- Ywain, also known as Owain, is one of the earliest Knights of the Round Table mentioned. He is the son of King Urien, a popular figure in Wales, and Morgan le Fay, Arthur's half-sister and a powerful sorceress.
- Sir Lionel is a Knight of the Round Table who was rejected by the Holy Grail when he tried to kill his brother, Bors, for not rescuing him. He is connected to Ywain by the fact that they're both Knights of the Round Table and that he killed Sir Calogrenant, another Knight and Ywain's cousin, when he attempted to kill his brother.
